If you think your music is bad, you're probably right.
Hi, we’re Dan and Jim. We love music. But one thing that sucks hard about the Internet is trying to find the good stuff. That’s why we invented SoundOff.
Still listening to full tracks on MySpace? Sick of hearing your friends say inane things like, “Hold on, the good part’s coming”?
It’s the 21st century. Tell your hippie friend that his 9 minute jam section gets exactly 20 seconds on SoundOff.fm.
Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata”? It would’ve gotten a full 20 seconds. Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping”? 20 seconds (hopefully less). Maybe you’re the next big thing in the country music scene, with your velvety voice and political overtones. You, my friend, get 20 seconds.
Because ALL types of artists are welcome to put their tracks through the SoundOff machine. It’s a blind taste-test, the Pepsi Challenge of the music world. We want to know who really comes out on top of the genre when you take out all the fluff. Let the music speak for itself!
It’s the golden age of the Internet. You could call it “Crowdsourcing” or “Music 2.0”, but we think it harkens back to the good ol’ days when competition in the music business was fierce. Like East Side vs. West Side fierce.
Sure, in those days, it was awful to pay $20 for that one song on a Ricky Martin CD. But call me loco – I thought it was catchy.*
Anyway, give it a try. And be sure to let us know what you think.
– Dan and Jim
*Editor’s Note: Only Jim thought that one song was catchy.
